Just got back from my trip to visit the family in NJ, and made my obligatory trip into NYC

Image hosted by Photobucket.com

Mostly went shopping - I have a love/hate relationship with Tower Records in the village, love the selection, hate the amount of money I always spend - but had to get off my "Oi" tourist shots (with all my trips to the city, I have next to no pictures at all).

Ran by CBGB -

For those who haven't heard, they're in serious danger of closing down (landlord troubles). Go check out their page for more info.

They let me take a few shots inside by the stage -

And across the street, the city of New York officially renamed the corner Joey Ramone Place

I visited here last year with my sister, but cannot for the life of me find my disposable camera from that trip, so I took some new shots!

While in the Village, had to stop by Trash and Vaudeville

Jimmy was there at the time, one of the things I've always liked about "alternative" people, they usually the nicest people, and he is no exception.

Couldn't find an official site, but these are cool -

Trash and Vaudeville on nycgoth.com
Trash and Vaudeville on nytrash.com

Had to laugh, last month [info]darkwing2022 and I were watching a Metal Makeover show on Fuse and they went shopping at Trash, while I was there I saw the extraordinarily queer chain mail shirt the guy in the show tried on.

Bought an assload of DVDs, but my new prize posession, the Ramones End of the Century, best rockdoc since The Filth and the Fury.

Yes, I had a great trip. Most of it was family time, and that's good, but always difficult - it's hard to be reminded of exactly how far away from them I am.

They can't close cbgb's. It's a national landmark. It should be protected like Yellowstone.

You know, you think it would be, but I've heard numerous tales of woe regarding real estate in NY - landlords can be such dicks.

"We've been dancing with Mr. Brownstone, he's been knocking, and he won't leave me alone" (yes, I know that's not what it means, landlords just make me think of it).

That, and a few other things I haven't had a chance to talk with you about - I'll try to call by Monday.

Ah yes, now you can see why I had a hard time getting a good shot of the Joey Ramone sign at night. They put it like fifteen feet up. I guess otherwise it would get stolen all the time. And you managed to get a shot of the gallery in there too. That's where my buddy Leon played. Now the real question, what does CBGB OMFUG stand for?

It stands for "Country, Blue Grass, and Blues" and "Other Music For Uplifting Gormandizers." Clearly, Hilly Kristal had a different kind of club in mind when he opened it.

Yay, I'm not the only person I know who can remember what it stands for. I was beginning to wonder. Although that "Gormadizers" part is a bitch to remember when you're drunk.

Woot! I think I am in luuuuuuurve ... with your jacket! :)

Dude, I have never understood the camo pant thing, I would think it would be terribly diffucult to find something that actually matched it, instead of "This is going with my camo pants, you gotta problem with that?! *BAM* BOOT TO THE HEAD!"

Seriously though, you look like you had fun, you sound like you had fun, you *sniffsniff* smell like you had fun?! (I love that crisp NJ/PA air smell) ... Now you must visit and regale me with tales! Or regale me with tail tales ... or tall tales, or perhaps just tail :)

*leans in for a good sniff of the jacket ... dicks chig the jacket!*

You've never seen my jacket before? Dude, I've only had it forever.

As for the camo pants, mine are shades of white, grey, and black, so they go with nearly every shirt I own (and the green one's match my Dropkick Murphys and Green Day shirts).

I would love to hang out, I'll give you a call today/tonight.

I've seen it, but not often, and can I not fall in lurve with the jacket if I have seen it before?

*shakes head at the camo convo* I just don't get it. I mean, they are snazzy pants and they look cool, but the just never seem to truly 'match' ... I'll never get it, and that is ok with me :)

Oi! The punkin' and I can meet you at your work if you want, and have you seen The Incredibles? It is the current favorite and could assist in keeping her calm and quiet whilst the adults visit :)

No, it just seemed from your comment you had never seen it. Feel free to love the jacket.

Let me tell you, I get more compliments on the camo than any other pants I have ever owned, people dig em. Of course, if you don't like em, don't wear em. ;)

I'll call you when I get out (great, now I got "Breaking out" stuck in my head).
