[Jan. 31st, 2005|12:12 pm]
[mood | cynical]
[music |Busload of Faith - Lou Reed]

Wow, I just realized it's been a week since an update! We've been so slammed at work, I've had time to post comments but no updates.

Don't really have any current events to speak of, Friday went out to Java Junction with [info]darkwing2022 to meet with [info]geodiaz, but he never showed, so darkwing2022 and I hung out talking band business until about 2am.

Spent most of the rest of the weekend cleaning. Was supposed to hang with [info]djpsychobilly Saturday, but I didn't hear from him until 9:45pm (and left my phone in the car and didn't get the message til midnight), so I had already made plans.

One of my favorite annual events... [Jan. 31st, 2005|05:12 pm]
[mood | enthralled]
[music |Journey to the End of the East Bay - Rancid]

Happened to be in downtown St. Pete for lunch and was reminded, it's almost time for one of my favorite annual events -

March 11-13 - 24th Annual Florida Antiquarian Book Fair
Friday 5:30pm to 9:30pm, Saturday 10am to 5pm, Sunday 10am to 4pm, $7 good all three days, $5 Saturday and Sunday, More than 115 dealers from 25 different states and Canada will exhibit. The St. Petersburg Public Library will benefit from ticket sales. Sponsored by the Florida Antiquarian Booksellers Association and co-sponsored by Bright House Networks. Call 727-822-3278 or 727-563-9922 or email us at flapr@tampabay.rr.com.

Not as cool as the annual Goodwill Booksale (RIP), which was a bargain bookhunter's dream, but it's apples and oranges. If you're looking for that uber-rare edition, or something signed by the author, it's the place to be - in the past, I've seen editions of James Bond novels signed by Ian Fleming and Sean Connery, a 1st edition of poetry signed by WB Yeats, and even a signed 1st edition of Mein Kampf! Obviously, these examples were crazy expensive, but there are still a lot of affordable, rare books. Very cool!
