The Virgin Mary 2005 - for compass_rose
Last night, headed down to the Globe Coffee Lounge with Geisha Sensatia, [info]lisamartin, and [info]fionathecelt, for some coffee and conversation, excellent times. My friends are all insane (wait, what does that say about me?).

The place was kinda slow, which I prefer on a weeknight, but JoEllen was chatting us up, and mentioning their upcoming 6th anniversary party and new art show (pay attention [info]compass_rose) -



The Virgin Mary 2005
The Mother Mary in the 21st century means much more than an image on a piece of toast sold on ebay or shattered in Clearwater. She is an ancient icon that is constantly being reinvented to suit cultures' needs.
Five artists are presenting their contemporary Marys:
Natty Moss Bond (mixed media); Laura Keane (photography, statuary); Jackie Shane (photography); Celeste Simon (mixed media) and Carrie Waite (photography) bring an art show to you embracing the Mary of our secret lives.

Opening Reception 6-9p.m. June 16. Free and open to you and you and you. Hey, it is also our official sixth anniversary. Boy Howdy.

So, make sure all you Catholics, recoving Catholics, and Icon worshippers head down to what is otherwise a great coffeehouse anyway for some idol worship!
